26 octubre 2021.- Según el informe del Instituto Nacional de Defensa Civil (Indeci), más de 20 viviendas fueron destruidas tras el incendio forestal de este lunes en el centro poblado de las islas flotantes los Uros en el lago Titicaca.

El siniestro inició alrededor de las 14:00 horas y las llamas arrasaron también con una cantidad indeterminada de hectáreas de cobertura natural de totora. El siniestro ha dejado graves daños ecológicos para la zona turística que busca su reactivación pos pandemia.

Las autoridades locales coordinan la entrega de bienes de ayuda humanitaria para las familias damnificadas, quienes pernoctaron en viviendas de familiares y vecinos de la comunidad.

El infierno en el lago fue extinguido por los pobladores aproximadamente a las 22:00 horas tras una lucha de 8 horas.
