Arequipa 30 julio 2019.- Un grupo de pobladores y Construcción Civil bloquearon esta mañana el ingreso a los distritos de Yarabamba, Quequeña, Characato, Socabaya y Mollebaya, en solidaridad con los manifestantes del valle de Tambo en rechazo al proyecto minero Tía María, así como la disconformidad con el trabajo de la minera Cerro Verde.

Los pobladores colocaron piedras en la vía, pero también hicieron el bloqueo humano. Con estas protestas, se impide también el acceso al Santuario de Chapi.

Según Maximiliana Romero, secretaria de la base sindical de Construcción Civil de Yarabamba, la minera Cerro Verde no cumplió con arborización y piden el apoyo para la realización de la muestra de sangre de sus hijos para determinar si se encuentran contaminados con minerales.

Los opositores a la minería se encuentran en puntos estratégicos de acceso a los distritos antes señalados como el cruce de Santa Ana, penal de Socabaya, entre otros.
