26 agosto 2025.- El Día del Adulto Mayor es una fecha donde se rinde homenaje y reconocimiento a las personas de avanzada edad alrededor del mundo. El 26 de agosto es el día elegido para agradecer a todos esos hombres y mujeres que nos siguen regalando verdaderas lecciones de vida.

26 agosto 2025.- El Día del Adulto Mayor es una fecha donde se rinde homenaje y reconocimiento a las personas de avanzada edad alrededor del mundo. El 26 de agosto es el día elegido para agradecer a todos esos hombres y mujeres que nos siguen regalando verdaderas lecciones de vida.

El origen de esta celebración está relacionada a la muerte de Santa Teresa de Jesús Jornet e Ibras, patrona de la ancianidad que murió en Valencia (España), un 26 de agosto de 1897 y fue fundadora de la congregación de las Hermanitas de los Ancianos Desamparados. Como forma de conmemorar su fallecimiento se creó el Día del Adulto Mayor.

En Perú, el Día del Adulto Mayor fue declarado conforme a la Ley 30088. El ex legislador José Urquizo Maggia, fue el autor de esta norma, que fue publicada el 1 de octubre de 2013 en el diario oficial El Peruano.
