21 marzo 2025.- Tras un intenso debate en el Pleno del Congreso, la moción de censura contra el ministro del Interior, Juan José Santiváñez, fue aprobada con 78 votos a favor, 11 en contra y 20 abstenciones.

La decisión se tomó luego de que 112 congresistas expresaron sus posturas respecto a la gestión del ministro. Mientras algunos parlamentarios señalaron que su salida no solucionará la creciente inseguridad que afecta al país, otros argumentaron que la permanencia de Santiváñez en el cargo resultaba insostenible debido a los cuestionamientos por su manejo del sector.

El ministro deberá presentar su renuncia en las próximas horas, y el Ejecutivo tendrá que designar a su reemplazo. Esta decisión refleja la creciente presión política ante la ola de delincuencia y la exigencia de medidas efectivas para garantizar la seguridad ciudadana.
